Hi, every one.
My name is Walter Gaolatlhe Ketshabile. I was born in Goodhope, in Botswana on the 18th of April 1955. I am the second born in the family and have eight siblings; i.e. Three brothers and five sisters. I am a married man with five children. I am a stauch member of the Methodist church of Southren Africa.
I started schooling long time ago, in 1963 at Mahalapye primary school in Botswana, then proceeded to do my secondary education at Madiba Secondary school still in Botsana. I started my carrer in Agriculture in 1974 at Botswana College of Agriculture, and since then have never looked back. In 1981, I went to The Netherlands ( Deventer) to do Tropical Animal production, then went to the US at Oklahoma State University for Barchelors degree in Animal Science where I graduated in 1992. While still in America I went to Montana State university for Land use Management. in 1997 I did Post graduate diploma in Education at the University of Botswana.
My work experience revolve arround Livestock Production and teaching. After my first graduation from Botswana College of Agriculture, I joinined The mininistry of Agriculture as feild officer, then worked for Botswana Agricultural Rearch as the farm Manager at Musi Livestock Research Farm. This is the largest government farm in Botswana with a carrying capacity of 400 livestock units.After completing my Bacholars' degree I Also worked as a farm Manager in a Multipurpose farm, at Tonota College of Education where my teaching profession started.I ended in the class, teaching Beef production, Poultry, Range Management and sheep & goats.
I joined The Univ. of Kwazulu Natal Last year in July 2005 so that a can become a full fledeg Livestock scientist, aiming to teach for few years then get into the bussiness of livestock industry.Probably, own a small farm where i can relax with my family. See you at my farm one day, Bye Bye!
